This month i finished two new fine art photography series. One of them is titled Loneliness.
The central topic of the series is the lonely human figure surrounded by the forces of nature, by the uncertainty that is all around us.
In this sense, it has some things in common with the natural movement series.

The photos were produced and taken in New Zealand and Greece. The naked body of the figure emphasises further the vulnerability of human beings in relation to the world they inhabit.
At the same time, that fragile and vulnerable human figure becomes a firm statement of harmony and beauty, the one thing that brings the chaotic landscape into a new dimension, the human being giving meaning and depth to the world.

And so, in this tension, in this drama, in this permanent struggle and fight of the human being, we realize that as much as we try to cover ourselves and to make our homes safer and safer, we are still always naked, naked and exposed to the hardships that time and space bring. In that reality resides not only the drama of human existance but also its beauty, for from that struggle come the incredible achievements that these naked humans can reach during their lifetimes. It is the triumph of the creativity of the human spirit.

These days we are having our thoughts with the brave people of Japan that are struggling to recover after a massive and unexpected tsunami and earthquake. The Loneliness series connects well with these terrible events. For in these dramatic moments in which so many brave humans flee from nature’s rage or desperately seek to reunite with their loved ones, we all feel that naked loneliness of the fragile human existence that is constantly facing all sorts of perils and uncertainties.

And yet, after such a massive tsunami and earthquake, after enduring for days more tsunami warnings and earthquake replicas, the brave japanese stick together and find each other’s care to make that human loneliness more bearable; And by sharing and supporting each other in these hard times, they bring dignity and beauty to our human existence.
